Dementia / Alzheimers Care

Dementia is a general term used to describe a group of symptoms.

These include deterioration in memory, and judgment, intellect, deterioration in social skills and language. Alzheimer’s Disease is the most common casue of dementia and accounts for more than 50% of all cases.

We provide dedicated care for residents with dementia in our nursing home.  Residents with dementia integrate with other residents throughout Riverbrook, works are underway to establish new and enhance dementia gardens with access walkways through which residents can wander safely. Our home has been designed to be dementia friendly. We strive to continually improve the service we provide to ensure it remains dementia friendly. We have both a large and small sitting areas and the dining room enhances a cosy homely environment.

We do not believe in multi storey residential homes

Riverbrook has resident accommodation on the ground floor only. We actively encourage our residents and staff to use our garden facilities.

We have also invested heavily in specialised training for our staff so as to provide the highest level of care to our resdients. All our staff including non care staff have received specially designed best practice training in dementia. For more information please discuss with Denise our Director of Nursing.
